Delta to begin Non Stop Flights to Sydney

Delta Air Lines will begin nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport and Sydney, starting in July.

The start of Sydney flights—which may prompt a fare war on the popular U.S.-Australia route next year—is part of a broader move by Atlanta-based Delta to expand international operations at LAX, airline officials said.

In addition to Sydney, Delta will begin nonstop service between LAX and Sao Paulo, Brazil, beginning May 21. The new Sao Paulo service would complement the three weekly nonstop flights currently flown by Korean Air, an airline alliance partner.

Delta said it also would increase nonstop service from LAX to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport from seven departures a day to eight to improve connection times for travelers from the Northeast flying to Sydney.

Best Airlines for Traveling with Pets

Here are some things you should know about flying with your pets on your favorite airlines.
Of course, this is an abbreviated version of most airlines rules, but feel free to contact me for more information anytime.

Make sure your pet is older than 8 weeks old.

Your pet has to be healthy, which means no diseases, health problems or anything that may be
dangerous to other animals.

Make sure you always bring the necessary paperwork with you to go alongside with your pet.

Make sure your crate is large enough for your animal and always put your name and contact
information on it.

American Airlines: Pets are accepted in the cabin and do count as checked baggage, check for latest checked baggage fees. Cats and Dogs are the only animals allowed.

Delta Airlines: Delta allows cabin pets as well as cargo. They allow Dogs, Cats, Birds, hamsters,
frogs and others (check for allowed pets with your travel agent or the airlines before traveling)
keep in mind that size restrictions of animals may apply. If you do bring your pet on board , make sure they are able to fit under your seat.

Northwest Airlines: You are able to bring pets onboard but be advised that pets are only allowed on some flights. You cannot take them in the cabin on flights to Hawaii and most International
flights, usually due to quarantine laws. Northwest has received some of the best reviews in handling of pets.

United Airlines: United allows pets in the cabin as well as in the cargo area. Check with the airline for travel dates as United may refuse in cabin pets during certain months. And always call ahead to make sure United accepts your breed of pet.

There are more airlines, and in the future I will be able to post it here on my blog. This is just
a brief summary. And last but not least Jet Blue is offering a pet frequent flier program, where you and your pet can earn miles.

And as an past American Airlines employee and a specialist with traveling with pets I welcome
any questions and would be happy to arrange a pet friendly flight and/or vacation for you.
